On this page we are going to show you just how easy it is to get a photo on your profile or your own personal photo albums as some dating services call it. We will show you how to do it without a digital camera or a scanner. We will also show you how with a digital camera. If I have not convinced you on how important having a photo on your profile is, consider this. In research studies creating profiles with and without photos, here are the results. We had a very good copywriter create a profile without photos. We paid for a 1 month membership; this profile received 10 responses. The 10 responses were all from members without photos. We had an average woman and man write their own profiles giving them a few tips; they uploaded two photos each. The man again with a paid membership got 25 responses in one month and 90% of the responses also had photos on their profiles. The woman got 75 responses in 30 days, 77% of which the responses had photos on their profiles. Ok, if you do not have a digital camera and no scanner take several photos with a regular camera, or use a very good photo you already have. Take it to a photo processing service; even the services at many drug stores can do the following. For about $5.00 more, have them put the photos on a CD. Some photo processing services will put your photos on their website where you can copy them later and put the photo in the My Pictures program which computers automatically come with, for free. The photo service will give you step by step instructions on how to get the photo from their website or from a CD to your My Pictures file. I will give them to you now. This also works with the CD. You are now at their website and have found your photos, or, you found them on your CD. Right click on the photo. A small box will open and you will look for the word "Copy". Now left click the word "Copy". Next, if you have not already open My Pictures do this now. Point your mouse on the "Start" icon on your screen and you will see My Pictures, open up this program. When it is opened up put your cursor/pointer on a blank place on your screen. Then right click your mouse, look for the word "Paste." Put your mouse pointer on the word "Paste" and left click. A thumbnail size of your photo will appear. If you want to see a full size view of the photo on My Pictures just left click on the photo and you will see the full size photo. This is very important, have the photo processing service format your photo as a jpg file. The jpg means joint photographic group. When you name your photo before you save it in My Pictures it should look like this John1.jpg, never do this when naming a photo file John 1.jpg. I will give you another example Jillmydog.jpg never do this Jill my dog.jpg. You could do this Jill_my_dog.jpg. This photo would be Jill with her dog Luke. The reason you name a photo file John1.jpg or John2.jpg is because you may have many photos of yourself or you with your pet. Another good photo might be to show yourself with your hobby or interest like this, file name Johnmotorbike.jpg got it. The key here is to make sure to not put any spaces when saving your photo files. The size or dimensions of your jpg formatted photo. I went to some top dating sites and browsed the photos that people put on their profiles. The photos had dimensions like this: W160xH120 you will normally never see the W or the H, but I am going to put them in there so you understand the W means width the H means height. W78xH120, W113xH120, W80xH120, W85xH120, W161xH120. All the above dimensions work fine and more; do not go more than 120 for the height of the photo. For the width no more than 200. Have the photo processing service format within the above dimensions. If you do not have the photos formatted to right dimensions the dating service will crop the photos and they charge for that most the time. For the people that have a digital camera, I would assume you have the cord that goes from your camera to the USB port on your computer. I assume you will know how to get the photos from your camera to My Pictures or your photo software. Again, you want to put your photos in My Pictures or on your photo software. If for some reason you do not know how to do this contact your computer store and ask them how. If you are looking to buy a digital camera to get a photo on a dating service profile you do not need anything more than a 2 megapixels camera. Don't be conned into something more. The only time a 3 or higher megapixels camera is needed is if you are going to blow up a photo on photo paper to 5 x 10 or larger. Consumer Reports wrote a good article about this. You can't even tell the difference between a photo taken by a 2 or 4 megapixel camera in a 5 x 7 photo, on photo paper or on your computer. If you want, you can even buy a disposable digital camera. Bring it to a photo processing service and for about $5.00 more they can put your photos on a CD or on their website where you can copy them later to your computer as I explained above. Uploading your photo to your profile or photo albums on a dating service or dating services: It basically is done like this. First thing you are going to do is open My Pictures and write down the file name for the photo or photos you want on your profile. This should be just below the photo, like Jill2.jpg. Most good dating services will have step by step instructions on how to upload your photos; it works something like this. You start by logging into your account first. You will click on a button, icon, or link for uploading photos to your profile on the dating service. After you click on the button/link for uploading your photo file you will find a browser button. Now left click that browser button and this will open a box that shows files or programs on your computer. See that little box on the top that says {Look in} next to the box? Left click on the arrow and this will open a pull down menu that lists program files. Left click on the My Documents icon, which will open another box. Look for My Pictures icon, left click on that icon, all your files should be listed here. Now look over at the names of the photo files you want to have on your profile. Let's say it is Jill2.jpg, find the file name Jill2.jpg in the box that opened. Left click on Jill2.jpg, for example, but remember just click one time, not two. Now this will put that file name into the File Name box below. Now left click the Open button and this will put the file name into a box for uploading your photo to the dating service. Now click the upload button and you're done. Most dating services will take 24 to 72 hours to approve and put your photo or photos on your profile or personal photo albums. One photo is good, two are great and any more can be too many. With too many photos people will make a decision mainly based on photos. Rather, you want them to make a decision based on your profile and photo.
